During January / February 2006 I've spent my 4-weeks winter vacation at Viet Nam. Besides a 14-days round trip across the country I'd made a 14-days swimming stop at the Blue Ocean Resort in Mui Ne.
I've tried to arrange the report as follows:
[ General information | North Viet Nam with Ha Noi and Ha Long | Central Viet Nam from Hue and Hoi An to Nha Thrang | South Viet Nam, Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta | Mui Ne and the Blue Ocean Resort | Photos from people and markets ... | ... of cities ... | .... of landscapes... | ...and from religion and culture | travel report and photos 2002 ]
At present I am busy with structure and contents of the side. Errors are eliminated at the end.
So please visit this side and look for progress from time to time.
At the beginning some informations regarding visa and other things
| Visa: | Necessarily. German citizens need a passport with a validity a at least 6 months when leaving the country. For further information contact the embassy of the SR Viet Nam. Normally the visa is valid for 28 days, but mine was for 30 days. Operating time was approx. 14 days (July 2006) |
| Currency: | Vietnamese Dong. Per 11th of August 2006 the exchange rate was approx. 20.450 Dong or 16.000 Dong for one Euro / US-Dollar. Payment with US-Dollar is everywhere in the country problem-free possible. Within the touristic areas also Euro (only notes) are accepted too. |
| Inoculation: | I refer current information in each case on the side of the German society for tropical medicine. |
| Time: | The Vietnamese time precedes the German by 6 hours, and during summer time by 5 hours. Thus it is at 10.00 o'clock Vietnamese time 04,00 and/or 05,00 o'clock of German time. |
| Electricity: | The voltage amounts to either 110 or 220 V. All hotels I've visited during the vacation used a tension of 220 V. At that hotels plug sockets where used, which alternatively made the use of Euro for flat pins or American flat pin plugs possible. The use of an plug adapter or of 110V devices wasn't necessary at no hotel I've been. |
| Mobile phone: | The 2 existing telephone companies use the 900 MHz GSM standard. In large cities, touristic interesting areas as well as along the highways there is as very good net . The other areas vary from very good to bad. |
